Goodbye to Italy!

This is an experience I will never forget. In the past few weeks, I learned and observed a new culture and way of life. I was able to travel to several cities in Italy while exploring Florence such as Cinque Terre, Venice, Pisa, Lucca, Rome, Pompei, Ferrara and Siena. I don’t think I have ever done as much as I had in the past month and half. Yet, there are so many things I still didn’t get to do.

Water is a necessity and contaminated water is the cause of many illnesses throughout the world. Providing clean and sanitary water to the people is a must to ensure everyone remains healthy. Throughout Italy, there were water fountains in the cities that provided safe water and anyone could drink from them and fill up their water bottles. It was a great system! In Florence in the apartment I was staying at, it was safe to drink tap water as well. The UN Goal, Clean Water and Sanitation, is being completed by Italy in this form. Everyone is able to have access clean water.

I can’t believe I was able to experience and see as much as I did. It will be extremely hard to have another trip that will be as great as this. From this entire trip, one place I recommend (besides Florence) is Cinque Terre and the hike from Vernazza to Monterosso. In the picture with this post, that ledge I am sitting on is about halfway through the hike and the sight is amazing. There are no words. Cinque Terre is a very relaxing and fun place to go to but can also be very adventurous as you can go cliff diving as well! All the cities were wonderful but Cinque Terre was by far my favorite. I hope I am able to go again one day, but if not, the memories will always be with me.

~Ciao!
